As a makeup artist, one of my most fielded questions (aside from can you make me look younger) is..."What's your favourite brand?", or "What makeup do you use?"
The truth is, I don't have one brand. I use a bunch of different brands.
Trends aside, good brows are always in fashion. If eyes are the window to your soul, then your brows are the frames to the window. And so, its important to at least act like you know what you're doing.
I'm probably going to upset a few people by saying, I strongly dislike (hate is so negative) Instabrows, fade brows, HD brows, ombre brows, and the list goes on..IMO and in the opinion of many other makeup artists, this trend needs to DIE. In fact, it should have already died a fiery death. The trend began its days at the makeup desks of drag queens, where it should have stayed. Brows should look like hair, not stencils, not perfectly formed doubles of each other...they are hairs, they should look like hairs, please.
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Queensland VIP Launch of Smitten Cosmetics. A cosy affair at This Must Be The Place on Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, attended by Brisbane's salon owners and beauty businesses, and freelance makeup artists. We were treated to pink lemonade and bubbles on arrival, carb and calorie free of course!
Thanks for stopping by my page.
I've been meaning and wanting to post a blog page for a while. Truth be told, quite a while, like years in fact...everyone is always bugging me, when are you going to start a blog? and, why haven't you started one already?, Oh, I thought you had a blog..? So with the new year/new me and all that in mind, here it is folks.
So with the new year theme playing on my mind, I wanted to ask you...is there an adventure you're planning this year, business or travel, new outlook on things, new attitudes towards self and your body, what is it? Tell me...?
For me, as usual its a melting pot of all the things. I can't help but have my fingers in many pots with many brews on the go. Of course, weddings and formals and clients are my top priority, as is my family and friends, but being creative and feeding my soul in taking part in amazing shoots is important too. For me, makeup really is my art. And you need to practice your art to stay in touch with your heart and soul.
To that end, I must flit, I have mood boards to ponder.
